Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Visual Volleyball (“we”) collects when you use this website, and how it is used. We keep data collection to a minimum.

1. Visitor statistics

To understand how many people use the site, we record anonymous page views: the page visited, the time, the general device type (desktop, mobile or tablet) and, if you arrived from another website, that website’s domain name. Your browser stores a random identifier in its local storage so repeat visits can be counted. We do not record your name, IP address or precise location, and we do not use these statistics to identify you. You can clear the identifier at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.

2. Questions you ask

Questions typed into the Ask page are searched on your device and are not sent to us — unless you press “Send my question”. In that case we store the text of the question (without your name or any account) so we can write an answer for our Q&A; we may publish an answer to it. Please do not include personal information.

If the optional AI coach is available and you choose to use it, your question is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate an answer; we do not store the text of AI questions.

To prevent spam and abuse, we limit how many questions can be sent per day. For this we keep a one-way scrambled (hashed) code derived from your connection’s IP address, which cannot be turned back into the address and is deleted after one day.

3. Advertising

We may show ads served by Google AdSense to keep the site free. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, which may be personalised based on your visits to this and other websites. You can learn how Google uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown.

4. Affiliate links

Our gear recommendations link to products on Amazon. Visual Volleyball is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn fees by linking to Amazon. If you buy something after following one of these links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Amazon may use cookies to record that you arrived from our site; see Amazon’s privacy notice for details. We do not receive any information about you or your purchase.

5. Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data (such as IP addresses) to deliver the website securely, as described in Cloudflare’s own privacy policy.

6. Children

Visual Volleyball is suitable for all ages, but it is not directed specifically at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

7. Your choices and rights

Because our own statistics are anonymous, we generally cannot link them to you. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete personal data; contact us and we will help where we can.

8. Changes and contact

We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest version. Questions? Email (contact address coming soon).
