- Front-row players may complete an attack hit at any height, provided contact is within their own playing space.
- Back-row players may complete an attack at any height from behind the front zone: at take-off their feet must not touch or cross the attack line. They may land in front of it afterwards.
- Back-row players may attack from the front zone if, at the moment of contact, part of the ball is lower than the top of the net.
- Fault: a back-row player completes an attack hit from the front zone when the ball is entirely above the top of the net.
