- Minor misconduct is not sanctioned. The first referee first gives a verbal warning through the game captain, then may show a YELLOW card — a formal warning recorded on the score sheet with no immediate consequences.
- Misconduct leading to sanctions is classified as: rude conduct (contrary to good manners), offensive conduct (defamatory or insulting words or gestures), and aggression (physical attack or threatening behaviour).
- PENALTY — RED card: the opponents gain a point and the serve (e.g., first rude conduct).
- EXPULSION — RED + YELLOW held together: the member must leave the court for the rest of the set and sit in the penalty area (e.g., first offensive conduct, or second rude conduct).
- DISQUALIFICATION — RED and YELLOW held separately: the member must leave the competition-control area for the rest of the match (e.g., aggression, second offensive conduct, third rude conduct).
- Sanctions are cumulative within a match and are recorded on the score sheet.
