What is a 5-1 system?

A 5-1 uses one setter who sets in all six rotations, plus five other players (usually two outsides, two middles and an opposite).

• When the setter is back row: three front-row attackers.
• When the setter is front row: two attackers, but the setter can dump.

It’s the system used by almost every top team.
