- A positional fault ("overlap") is committed when a player is not in the correct position at the moment the server hits the ball.
- Sanction: the team loses the rally β the opponents score a point and get the serve β and player positions are corrected.
- If the server commits a serving fault at the moment of the service hit, the serverβs fault counts before a positional fault.
- If the service becomes faulty after the hit (e.g., ball goes out) and a positional fault also occurred, the positional fault is penalised.
