The first referee carries out the toss in the presence of both team captains.
The winner chooses EITHER the right to serve or receive, OR the side of the court. The loser takes the remaining choice.
A new toss is made before the deciding (5th) set.
In sets 2–4, the team that did not serve first in the previous set serves first.
